什么是佛或者谁是佛？
举世皆知，佛是觉悟者，他了知宇宙之终极真相，佛的教法让我们人类解脱痛苦，佛的悲心带给世界宁静和谐。佛弟子乃追随佛陀教法进而发现生命意义者。

对佛像应该做的和不该做的
We often find that Buddha is not treated with respect. Many people over look the feelings of billions of Buddhists around the world.
我们经常发现不恭敬佛像（注：包括佛塑像、画像、印刷品等，以下同）的现象，很多人忽视了全世界众多佛弟子的感受。
Some show respect, others behave with ignorance.
有些人恭敬，有些人则表现出无知。
This summary might help you understand how you (should) can treat Buddha’s images appropriately.
这段报告也许有助于您了解如何正确对待佛像。

对佛像该做的行为
1. Respect
Pay respect with body and/or mind.
To pay respect to Buddha doesn’t mean one has to be a Buddhist. If one behaves with respect towards the father of a friend, one should treat Buddha likewise, for he is worshipped as the enlightened father.
Body language respect can be shown by “Wai” (Worship).
Respect of the mind can be shown by your attitude.
If you don’t want to pay respect at all at least do not look down on Buddha.
1、恭敬
用身/心恭敬
恭敬佛像并不表示您必须是个佛弟子。如果您尊重朋友的父亲，您应当以同样的尊重来恭敬佛像，因为佛被尊称为觉悟之父。
行为上的恭敬可以通过“威”（双手合十）来表示，心意上的恭敬由态度来表达。
若您根本不愿恭敬佛像，请至少不要轻视。
2. Correctness
If you see a picture, amulet or statue of Buddha in inappropriate places such as a walk way floor, in a toilet or on a chair,
please help to place it in a proper place up high such as on a shelf or higher.
2、纠正错误的做法
如果您看见佛像图片、护身符或者佛的塑像在不当之处，如走廊的地上、厕所或座椅上，请移置于恰当的洁净的高处，如架子上或更高处所。


3. Knowledge
If you are a Buddhist inform those who have the wish to know about Buddha.
If you are not a Buddhist, just give the person who might ask
“Who is Buddha ?” The simple answer that
"Buddha is the Enlightened One who taught the Buddhists to do good deeds".
3、告知别人
若您是佛弟子，请对愿意了解佛的人讲解这些知识；
若您不是佛弟子，对问“佛是谁？”的人，请告诉他“佛是觉悟者，他教导佛弟子行善。”

对佛像不该做的行为1. Do not treat Buddha badly.
If you cannot pay respect to Buddha at least do not treat the image of Buddha badly. Nobody should look down on or treat badly someone 's father. Buddhists respect Buddha as the religious father. All leaders of religions are regarded with respect. This should also be applied to Buddha.
1、请勿对佛像无礼。
若您不能恭敬佛像，至少不要无礼对待，谁都不应蔑视或无礼对待他人的父亲。佛弟子尊佛为至尊导师。所有宗教的导师都应受到尊敬，对佛陀也应如此。
2. Do not place Buddha images in inappropriate objects or places.
2、请勿将佛像置于不当之处。
Buddha images should be placed away from objects of daily use such as handkerchiefs, napkins, towels, rags or cleaning item . Also do not use for the lower part of the body shoes, underwear, skirts including all sorts of toys and furniture etc.
佛像应与日常生活用品，比如手帕、餐巾、毛巾、抹布或者清洁用品等分开放置，也勿将佛像用于身体较低处，包括鞋子、内衣、裙子等处，以及各类玩具和家具等。


3. Do not place images or statues of Buddha as if they were furniture or decorative objects.3、请勿将佛像用作家具或摆设品。
For example don’t place a Buddha statue in the middle of a table.
Don’t place a Buddha statue in the toilet.
Don’t place Buddha statues in bars or restaurants.
例如：勿置佛像于桌子中间。
勿置佛像于厕所。
勿置佛像于酒吧或餐馆。








4. Do not treat Buddha as merchandise.4、请勿将佛像当作商品。
You might wonder why there are merchants even in some Buddhist
countries who treat Buddha statues or images without respect and sell them like furniture. That is a reflection of human nature. In every society there are good and bad people. Bad people don’t care about anything except their own benefit, but the true Buddhist will feel ashamed of that.
In some countries you may see shops selling Buddha statues in various sizes.
These may be considered acceptable because the buyers are Buddhists
who acquire statues and images to place in the temple or other appropriate places with the intention to respect them.
你可能不理解，即使在一些佛教国家，为什么一些商人竟然毫无恭敬心地将佛像如同家具一样地出售。这是人类本性的一种反映。每个社会都有善和不善的人，一些人除了他们的自身利益外，不关心任何其他事情，但真正的佛弟子会羞于如此。在一些国家，您也许看到商店出售各种规格的佛像，这种行为之所以能够被接受，是因为买主是佛弟子，他们请了佛像安置在寺院或者其他恰当的场所，用来恭敬礼拜。



5. Do not use Buddha’s name in a disrespectful way.5、请勿以不恭敬的方式使用佛名。
For example in a movie
a dog’s name is “Buddha”.
There is an ice cream shop
named “Buddhi Belly” and
a bar called “Buddha Bar”.
例如，在一部电影里，有条狗的名字叫“佛”；
一家冰淇淋店取名为“佛肚”；
一个酒吧取名为“佛吧”。

6. Do not under any circumstance make fun of Buddha statues or images.6、在任何情况下，都不要拿佛像取乐。
For example there is a movie poster which shows a man sitting on Buddha’s shoulders.
例如有一张电影海报，印着一个人坐在佛肩上。
7. Do not tattoo an image of Buddha onto the body.7、请勿把佛像当纹身图案。
Please help us stop all disrespectful acts toward the Buddha through his images and symbols that is occurring and increasing heavily and regrettably around the world.
请帮助我们劝止这种日趋严重、令人遗憾地发生在世界各地的对佛像及佛教元素不恭敬的行为！
